As the founder of the Children of Earth Foundation, I would like to share our goals with each of you. All human beings are the children of Earth. Our foundation began the quest to ease the suffering of humanity in 1988 by focusing on the needs of children. We know that what happens to the next seven generations depends totally on what we do to make a difference today. In the beginning, Children of Earth used its resources to provide help for children's programs. We funded educational scholarships, youth counseling services, orphanage activity programs, and wellness conferences. We wanted to mentor young people and help them find their roles in life by contributing to the healthy development of their bright minds. We chose to show them how to live their lives in wellness and how to make responsible choices about their bodies and their potentials.

At every turn, we found other dark shadows hounding the modern children of today. Abuse, physical illness, brain disorders, adolescent rage, and violent behaviors have changed what childhood is supposed to be about. In researching these challenging problems, we found many links to toxic chemicals, viral contaminants, and new illnesses that seem to have emerged since the mid-fifties. During our research we came across the statistics of millions of adults who have developed mystery illnesses and syndromes that have inadvertently passed many of those conditions to their children. Our new goals were determined by the information trails we discovered.

The Children of Earth Foundation has joined forces with some of the finest physicians, medical researchers, scientists, and health clinicians to offer information, which can bring hope to the suffering. We need your help to continue to report and update the latest developments on the chronic illnesses that plague children and adults. Through our new website, Emerging Worlds, we are providing solid information, options for treatment, hope for the future, and forums to discuss the needs of humanity. We want to report on the latest advances and medical breakthroughs that can ease human suffering. We never know how precious life is until it is threatened. Life will not continue unless we cherish the needs of each new generation. The world that emerges from the choices that we make today will be fashioned by those of us who want to make a difference.

I have been bedridden eleven of the past thirty years and have walked the path of chronic pain and illness. I want more for the children of the next seven generations. I believe that humor can heal a world of woes and that healthy attitudes can assist in physical healing. After years of searching for answers to my own condition and being disillusioned, I developed my motto for the Emerging Worlds web site, which gave me a giggle…

Jamie Sams is a best-selling author of Seneca and Cherokee descent. Her books are published in 38 foreign countries and 19 foreign languages. She has personally funded many of the programs to help our Native American community by donating a large percentage of the royalties received from her many books. Beginning in 1988, she developed programs for Native Youth which included "Saying no to drugs and alcohol," furnishing books for Native American Schools as well as Indians serving time in prison. She has funded Elder's travel funds for teaching at youth conferences and has funded scholarships for single Native American parents working to receive Bachelor's and/or Master's diplomas. Ms. Sams has traveled to many reservations and taught at Youth and Adult's Wellness seminars at no cost. Ms. Sams has donated her time teaching at the Native American Heritage School in Seattle, the Tulip Tribes of Washington, the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Orphanage and Boys Club, and has funded many groups such as the Mohawk, Aquasasni School trips to the Cradleboard Conference. She has worked with Native Ojibwa Elders in Canada founding the Turtle Mother Women's Center for abused Native Women.

Ms. Sams was invited by the Secretary of the Interior of the United States to be the keynote speaker for the Family And Child Education program for Native American Family Literacy. She has also been the keynote speaker for the Third World Counselors Association of California. Ms. Sams has worked with Nelson Mandela's task force to help preserve the indigenous stories of African Tribes as well as having worked with the Northwest Territories Aboriginal Women's Association of Australia to help young aboriginal writers to record the Elder's stories and teachings of their tribes. Ms. Sams founded Native American Tribal Traditions which has hosted countless Native American teachers and spiritual leaders on their ceremonial grounds, The Valley of Miracles Ranch, in Northern New Mexico.
